The most beautiful natural view in my city and in the center of Mexico is the volcanos, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. And during this month, the activity of one of them has increased very much.
El popocatépetl es un volcán activo, su nombre tiene origen nahuatl, proviene de dos palabras: "Popoca" que significa Humo y "Tepetl" cerro o montaña. El nombre de esta montaña significa "Cerro que humea"
Popocatepetl is an active volcano, its name has a nahuatl origin, it comes from two words:
"popoca" which means Smoke and "tepetl" hill or mountain. Its name means "Smoking hill".
El volcán popocatepetl es el segundo volcán o montaña más alto de México, despues del Citlaltepetl (Cerro de la estrella) o Pico de Orizaba. El Popocatepetl mide 5452 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Popocatepetl is the second highest volcano or mountain in Mexico, after Citlaltepetl (Star hill) or Pico de Orizaba. Popocatepetl is 5452 meters high over sea level.
El popocatépetl era adorado como un deidad en la época prehispanica, y las comunidades cercanas al volcán aún siguen lo siguen adorando, lo llaman "Don goyo" y a Iztaccihuatl "Doña Rosita". Desde tiempos inmemoriales existen leyendas de amor sobre ellos y la más famosa es la plasmada por José Santos Chocano en su poema "El idilio de los volcanes".
Popocatepetl was worshiped as a god in the prehispanic epoch, and nowdays the near comunities still worship it, they call him "Don goyo" and Iztaccihuatl "Doña Rosita". Since ancient times it exists love legends about them and the most famous is the one captures by Jose Santos Chocano in his poem " Volcanoes' Idylle".
Los ultimos días el volcán ha expulsado ceniza, fumarolas y material incandescente. Es muy notorio sobre todo en los automoviles que tienen una capa de fino polvo color gris, la ceniza volcanica.
The last days the volcano has expulsed ash, smoke and incandescent material. It is very notorious overall on the cars, which have a subtle layer of gray dust, volcanic ash.
La última erupción del volcán popocatépetl fue el 18 de diciembre del 2000, y la actividad actual es similar a la que hubo en esos días.
The last eruption was in december 18th 2000, and current activity is similar to that which was in those days.
